Tool comparison

Midjourney vs Flux vs Stable Diffusion Prompts

How prompts differ between Midjourney, Flux, Stable Diffusion and GPT Image. See one idea adapted to each tool, plus a comparison table of prompt styles.

The same idea does not always make the best image when pasted into every generator. Each tool was trained and tuned differently, so each one prefers a slightly different kind of prompt. Here is how to adapt your wording — with one idea written four ways.

The quick comparison

ToolTypical prompt styleExcluding thingsSettings
MidjourneyShort, descriptive phrases; full sentences also workThe --no parameter--ar, --stylize, --chaos, --v, --seed
FluxDetailed natural-language sentencesUsually not supported — describe what you want insteadSize, steps, guidance and seed in the host interface
Stable DiffusionTags or short phrases; weighting such as (word:1.2) in many interfacesA separate negative prompt fieldSteps, CFG scale, sampler, seed, size
GPT ImageConversational natural languageSay what to avoid in the sentenceSize and quality chosen in the app or API

Capabilities change with every release, so treat the table as a starting point and check each tool's documentation for the version you use.

One idea, four prompts

The idea: a minimalist perfume bottle on a marble pedestal, photographed like a premium ad.

Midjourney

Midjourney
Minimalist perfume bottle on a white marble pedestal, soft window light, pastel peach backdrop, product photography, 100mm macro --ar 4:5 --stylize 200 --no text

Flux

Flux
A minimalist ceramic perfume bottle standing on a white marble pedestal against a pastel peach backdrop. Soft window light from the left casts a gentle shadow. Product photograph taken with a 100mm macro lens, shallow depth of field, clean and elegant.

Stable Diffusion

Stable Diffusion — positive prompt
perfume bottle, white marble pedestal, pastel peach background, soft window light, product photography, 100mm macro, sharp focus, high detail
Stable Diffusion — negative prompt
blurry, low quality, text, watermark, deformed, extra objects

GPT Image

GPT Image
Create a product photo of a minimalist ceramic perfume bottle on a white marble pedestal against a pastel peach background. Soft window light from the left, shallow depth of field, shot like a 100mm macro. Portrait orientation, with no text or logos.

Which should you use?

  • Midjourney when you want a polished, stylised look quickly.
  • Flux when you need close adherence to a detailed description, or legible text in the image.
  • Stable Diffusion when you want maximum control — custom models, negative prompts and fine-tuned settings.
  • GPT Image when you want to refine an image through conversation, one instruction at a time.

Most prompts in the Let's Prompts library are written to work well across tools, and each one shows the model and aspect ratio it was tuned for. For a head start on this exact example, try the product photography prompts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the same prompt in Midjourney and Stable Diffusion?

Often yes as a starting point, but results improve if you adapt it. Move parameters like --ar and --no into the tool's own settings, and use a negative prompt field in Stable Diffusion.

Do Flux and GPT Image support negative prompts?

Generally you describe what you want rather than what to avoid. In natural-language tools you can add a short phrase such as "no text or logos", but support varies by tool and version.
